If you're a book publicist, please read this post on how to pitch a podcast guest. Having published two books, we know your job is to get publicity for the author. But we delete 90 percent of galley letters. Don't tell us why your author is fantastic. Tell us why they'd be amazing for our listeners.
Every guest on the podcast has an impressive list of professional accomplishments. But that's of little interest to us. We want to know who you are as a person. If everything in your pitch is something we could learn from looking at your Linkedin Profile, we'll say no.
People always ask us what we look for in podcast guests. And the thing we say is "if there was a formula, it wouldn't be unmistakable." That being said, there are a few things that our favorite guests have in common. According to Simon Sinek, our why is that we're obsessed with people who are good at unusual things. So, if you're the words best yo-yo artist, we'd love to hear from you. If you're a Facebook marketing expert, or anything of the sort, it's nothing personal, but you're not for us.
